Cross-border authorization
Also known as: cross-border permission, border authorization
Permission from the rental company to take the car into another country, sometimes needing paperwork, a fee, or specific coverage. Taking a car across a border without it can void coverage or breach the agreement.
Why it matters
Some routes and countries are restricted or prohibited, and coverage can change at the border, so cross-border trips need to be cleared in advance, not assumed.
